Dinosawesome!
Looking for a little at home fun? Something that doesn't involve t.v., iPads, phones, tablets or screens in general? (I know, I know, screens are sooo tempting!) Asia Citro has a great book, 150+ Screen-Free Activities for Kids. As much as I love my tech, I also love putting it away. Most often that happens when I'm underwater or on a hike. But, sometimes declaring a screen free day at home can be fun too! What kinds of adventures can you have right inside your own house? Well, I'm sure you have lots of great ideas, but if you need a little help, Citro's book has lots of ways you can have indoor adventures!
A few friends and I decided to try a dinosaur excavation. It was super fun, as you can see from the pictures below!
First up, you have to completely coat your dinosaurs in baking soda magic. Here are our dinosaurs, stuck in a scary baking soda cake. If I were a plastic dinosaur, I would not have been happy about this. Luckily, I'm not a plastic dinosaur! I added sprinkles for a little extra fun. I mean, if you're going to be stuck in a baking soda shell overnight, shouldn't it be a little sparkly?
After a long night's wait, we got down to business the next morning. Hands down, the best part of this activity was freeing our dinosaur friends! Bubbles! Sizzling! Dinosaurs floating! Rawr! What exciting things would happen once we freed them?
Here's a look at our dinosaur excavation fun!
